Good morning Mark, I am rather new to SEO myself - however, one of the first and most important things I have learned is that there are no quick & hassle free approaches to this. If you want to do it, you gotta do it right (meaning: INVEST TIME!!!) - else, stay clear of this topic! I've had quite a success with some tutorials that I found on youtube and also if you do a bit of a research, there are various SEO agencies out there, that offer free guides that tell you how to approach your own SEO. I had to sign up for customer accounts with some of these but this was free without any obligation - so just sign up and grab those goodies ;-)

From what i've learned it takes time and effort along with a rounded approach to SEO. From what I understand there's no point just concentrating on onsite optimisations and likewise there's no real benefit to simply concentrating your efforts solely on offsite.

Based on my SEO experience, let me share with you what you need to focus on in order to make it right.

I. On-page criteria
1. Title tag
2. Meta description tag
3. Heading tags
4. Alt attribute
5. Website structure
6. SEO links
7. SEO sitemaps

II. Off-page criteria
1. Inbound links from website relevant to your site in nature
2. Social Media

To learn more about each point, you can search at the SE. I'm sure there are tons of websites that offer this information.
