As many as you want, but I'd presume each dash gets it marked down in Google.

Seems some debate on this. I heard people argue for and against "-"s and I am none the wiser!

I think that dashes or hyphens never affect your ranking because the Search Engines don't depend much on this factor to rank a Web page. I have seen several hyphened domains rank very well.

To help you get more understanding, permit me to share with you the disadvantages and advantages of using hyphens.

Let me begin with the advantages.

1.Hyphens become important if your domain has up to 3 or 4 words.

2. Because the SEs treat hyphens as spaces, they help the Search Engines see each word as a separate word.

3.Hyphen(s) help change a domain name from "Not Available" to "Available"

Warning! Will you be in violation of someone else's trademark? Be sure that it is legal. Do check your site legalities before registering your domain name. Remember neglecting this vital point costs you or may make you regret.

Now what are the disadvantages?

1.Hyphens become less important or may cause confusing, especially when you're involving with offline activities.

2. A domain name with hyphens normally has NO branding value.
