Thumbs up If I asked for website review, would you bother?

Sometimes having feed back is vital to understand if you are on the right track. If I posted a URL requesting a review, would YOU do it?

depends, if you were a long standing forum member with a good number of posts, probably, too many newbies / spammers come along asking for reviews as just an excuse to drop a link and then never come back.

Build a bit of forum history and relationship, then you'll probably get a lot better response.

That makes sense. The reason I ask is because I have created a sample website from a free offering from Microsoft. It is an idea to help UK companies benefit from the Internet. Built on modules with lots of flexiblity and reporting.

If you could review, would you use this for your business or as a second website? The url is
http://business.services.officelive.com/default.aspx

Regards

I agree, but for the very small company with a limit budget, it could be very good offer. Have you tried building one yet? There are many different templates and naturally you can use your own images.

For a zero budget business website there's a far better offer:
Google "gbbo" to find Getting British Business Online.

BT and Google will give you a free domain name for two years, free hosting, and use of the (excellent) Google Apps for Domains.

Yes, I did check that out, the problem is, Google collects just about every bit of information about you and your company it can, you have no choice. What I like about the Microsoft offer, is very limited info is requested, and you can remove the Microsoft link if you want. I still run Google Analytics within the website. I have created a page so that anybody who creates a website can be listed and linked from the website.

If that is your portfolio, then why you couldn't upsell other services while catering to simple brochureware website requirements is beyond me.

I think it is fine for a brochureware/business card website. Most people probably are not into publishing everyday, right?

But if I had to change anything as a portfolio piece, maybe the images behind the text make the text too difficult to read.

On some pages I can't even really read the text without straining my eyes.
