Google is still the number one search engine with over 80% market share - i think it's safe to say that whilst the big SE that is Google is continually striving, SEO will continue to do so too.

What do you guys think about SEO? Is it important to you if you had/do have a business?

It's one of many marketing channels to consider - basic SEO to ensure a website is search friendly is probably a mandatory requirement IMO.

I agree, it can help turn a business around and boost web traffic and enquiries. Search friendly for sure but this is only good when the user is directed to the relevant information.

I think you are talking about "on-page" SEO, which is becoming less relevant, yes because there is so much competition now it is only "off-page" SEO that seperates us.

SEO can never die. As long as there is a method for ranking pages, which there has to be, there will be a way to manipulate the results.

SEO is a dieing term imo.
Who says search engines are how we will find things in the future?
Look at Facebook and the Link Graph, maybe thats how we'll search.

I think to define yourself in the niche that is SEO is the mistake.
SEO is a Part of Online Marketing, and as on an Online Marketer, I'll be around for a very long long time.

i agree, please expose which are your arguments. Banners, email and ppc is not SEO at all.

SEO is very much evolving and changing - that's the nature of the beast. I would still say that it is important in web development and should be taken into consideration.

No, SEO is not dead and probably never will be. It just evolves as everything else does on the internet. You just need to keep up with the times and adjust accordingly.
