I have recently started using Fireworks as my main graphicas app.
If you are developing graphics for web its probably your best option.

Don't use clip art you can't copyright clip art or trademark it.
any tip for converting eps to photoshop, please, its been a while and the head has gone hazy

Before I sell myself I would like to explain some small thing. MAking yourself your logo (unless you are good on it) could bring u a final work not good. Logo is most important thing on your web.. its your image, if your image isnt as pro as you are on your biz then people would think you arent either. Logo is very very important and costs around 200-250 dollars which I believe isnt that much if its for your biz.
If you want to see samples of logo made by us visit our website.

Illustrator is always my first choice. Doing a real business need attention to details. Logo is important. Logo must not only represent your business but also have quality (clear).

Illustrator enable me to resize my logo as I will, while photoshop will make your logo blur when you resize it again and again.
