Default liquid layout v fixed width

I like liquid layouts as its a bit of a challenge to design for and I recon I've done a few successful websites that work with LL and you can guarantee it will work on all browser sizes, but I know a few of my colleges almost religiously will do fixed width and we all nearly come to blows over the whole argument.

What yal think?

i am happy with either, it depends on the application.

What I noticed recently was that some people are designing dynamically so that the site CSS is altered to suit the width. I dont do that but I can see it on the horizon as I grow my CSS skills. Even pictures can be dynamically altered to suit width.

I can see this being especially useful for coping with excessivly large screen resolutions such as CAD design people etc.

what i find frustrating is people that set their screen resolutions to mismatch their screen size resulting in stretched pages. I know several people that have done that. One client I set the screen to the correct resolution, howver, 4 weeks later after making another site visit I noticed that he had set it back!!! He had become so used to everything looking stretched that it didnt look right when it was normal.

well both can be good really, depending on the sort of site. i always prefer fixed width because the site looks like how it was designed, i don't like the idea of websites looking different if viewed on a bigger screen.

For me it fully depends on what kind of site I am building and how much space I need on pages.
