I like the first one and agreed with nathy the water out to the right should be deleted.

Nice work. Looks like you put alot of time into them. I like the first one better. It's more compact and the water that falls of the edge is cool.

It's great for a beginner!
The text clashes a bit with the whole layout though. Try changing the color schemes of the text to fit. For example; since both of your layouts are bluish, you should change the text to a bluish color, and not too bright.

Both of them are ok but they are missing something I would maybe re-design the content boxes. To make the designs look a bit nicer.

Number 1 would be really nice for a water sport site, a boating company, or some type of aquirum type thing. But other than that, i don't see much of a use, but I really love the way you extended the banner "out" into the rest of the layout!

Number 2 is quite simpler, or at least simpler looking. I like the flow, its got potential! I think you could sell it! It could be used for quite a bunch of sites, unlike the first, and maybe if you could exchange banners on it, I think it would be really good. (to sell?)

Rather simple but its a start. Like the potential. First one looks the best out of the two IMO.

Nice job! I like the first one; it flows more and looks nicer. Whitespace makes the second one look inferior.
