Default buying a domain

there is one thing i cant get over it.

when you register a domain you didt buy it.

why do you buy it for one year.

when i buy a house, it is mine.

not for a year but for always.

isnt it strange?

Hey,
You're right pietimport!
So the solution is that: when we want to register a domain we must register it for 10 or 20 years!! it isn't true?

Mostly websites will not survied through 10 or 20 years unless they really have the determination to carry on and the capitals put aside for the development of their website.

So i think that should be the reason why domain registrations are registered yearly but if you think you can hold on to your site over the years, you can register your domain for that period but it will be a waste if the website is left undeveloped and the domain not being in use and not being able to sell it off.

No, it isn't strange. Actually you don't "buy" the domain, you simply rent it from ICANN & VeriSign. You don't own it. If you rent a house, it's not yours forever.
