Getting a feel for business.

I've recently been searching around for business ideas, help, advice. Anything that helps me understand business more. I'm not in a position to start one now (student), but in the near future.

I've scanned your website and found helpful information, and great business ideas, that I may use one day.

The point of this thread is to ask you successful business-men/women for tips and tricks of the trade. Which I can note down for future reference.

Hi S Craddock, and welcome to business talk.

As for your question - this entire site is actually about to undergo a major change of identity, and be part of a much wider site, which will include a number of articles on business and marketing issues specifcally for the internet - covering everything from business plans, webhosting, basic design concerns, and general business and marketing tips - watch this space.

As for loans from a loan shark - if a business venture really is financially sound enough to secure a loan then a bank should always be your port of call. There is always the possibilities of grants and "soft" loans. If you're under 32, for example, the Prince's Trust may be able to provide loans which have an interest rate only to match inflation.

Any local business center should have information on such topics - or maybe I should write a basic introduction to it.
