Urgent help needed!!

Dear all.

I'm not sure how to explain my question, so please bare with me.

I run a transport service business as a sole trader, I have recently been offered a very good contract transporting goods, to enable me to do this I need to apply for an operators licence which takes approx 12 weeks to get.

My uncle has an operators licence that can be used streaight away, he doesn't have a business anymore but still has his 'O' licence which means that we could start straight away rather than waiting 12 weeks for myself to get a licence

My question is this, as my business is R&N transport services and my uncles 'O' licence is under N Woolley Transport, Can we trade as:

R&N Transport Services trading as N Woolley Transport?????

I have had varied answers to this question, however not from someone that actually knows the 'Ins & Outs' I would be grateful for any help.

Hi millenia, and welcome to business-talk.

I'm not too sure of the actual legal position - but where legal matters are at stake I would always recommend the professional advice of a solicitor - especially in this instance.

If you're lucky you might be able to get a good answer no the phone - but if you actually have to go in and chat then at worst it'll hopefully cost you no more than £200-£300 - for a legally qualified answer.
