Exclamation Marketing tips

No idea where I found these:

Quote:
1. Never try to sell the product or service. Always sell the "benefit to the user".

2. Use short sentences and paragraphs. Remove works like "a, an, in, on, it, of" – the shorter and more concise the sentences the better. This helps keep text Scanable.

3. Use bullet points to list multiple features, benefits, etc. Helps the user register all points in their mind.

4. Write entertaining copy from time to time – but don’t go overboard. If you go overboard, the reader will lose focus.

5. Use easy to understand words and phrases – helps the reader scan easily. Eliminate complex words – they will not impress the reader.

6. Have extremely short sentences (1 to 2 words) to make a point and get the reader to focus again. For example: "All done.", "That's it.", etc.

7. Put yourself in the reader’s shoes. The content should touch him/her on an emotional, internal level. (You have to define the ideal reader to do this right).

8. Define what feeling the copy has to project. Then keep that in mind when writing. Refine it again and again to obtain the desired effect.

9. The headline should PULL in the reader to explore further. Have a wild headline that makes the reader want to click several times.

10. The introductory sentences should contain the benefits – the enticing words.

11. The user doesn’t give a flying f*** about the company or product – their interest is in finding a solution to their problem.

12. Let the user know about the problem first – relate with them emotionally. Using a past experience works good here. Then provide the solution to that problem.

13. Grammar and spelling – ridiculously
important. The reader catches all those mistakes, you lose credibility, and they get going to the next site.

14. Limit the width of the text so that the reader doesn’t have to move his eyes too much.

I can't quote your quote which is a loss. My point was just to say that numero uno is about as simple as it gets. The spam people even know that.

For me, 7. pretty much sums everything up. If you keep sight of that all the time, everything else she'd fit into place.

I have to admit, reading this list again, I really need to rework the copy on the britecorp site. Too much text there is spent pouting and posturing. There's not enough of the direct sales element, especially to quickly capture the interest of surfers. It's more brand marketing, which although has value, in itself is not going to be paying any bills anytime soon.

How is business going for you, Brian? Are you finding it slow-going, or is the work rolling in? How long now since you took the plunge of going it alone?

It's actually a case of unfolding the business first - not pushing forward yet - but I will report on how my marketing campaign goes once I launch it.

The two main marketing tips are :

1) Always sell benefits not describe the product - ie: how will your customer benefit from purchasing your product ?

2) The number "7" - think how your customer might think and find your business/ want your product

Hi everyone the this forum that I stumbled across !

Regards
Peter
