So, geti, is an autorenewal buried in your TOU?

Also, do you have a link to the UKBF complaints, please?

Hi Brian,

Yes it is, and if it wasn't for you starting this thread I would have been caught as well so thank you very much, you may have saved me some money.

The autorenewal wasn't mentioned at digital signup but they did send me the TOU, I just didn't read them - too trusting by far, that's my trouble

My anniversary date is Oct 3 2007 and my termination letter went yesterday by special delivery. It has to be a minimum of 30 days notice, I'll let you know what the outcome is.

The link to the grumblings about Marketsafe is:

Glad to help, and thanks for the reference on Marketsafe at UKBF.

I somehow suspect Adam isn't going to try pushing the company's services here, which appears to have been the reason for joining up by the fact that of a handful of posts he made, almost half were ads (and binned because of it).

I had an email confirmation today acknowledging receipt of my request for autorenewal to be cancelled and that the 'flag' was now off.

They also said they were going to contact me sometime in the next week to talk about different options. I am actually very busy this week and don't expect to be able to take any calls at all for the foreseeable future.

By the way Brian - do you like red or white wine at all?

Sorry geti, I'm a cider drinker.

Also had a few people contact me recently about ASA Creditsafe.com ltd - mostly about disputing charges. Looks like I may end up writing a news item about them this week. Will be very interesting to see whether ASA Creditsafe set the Rottweilers on Platinax again for publishing complaints about them.

Still, I intend to keep just to facts, not speculation, and so create little room for perceived libel.

I don't know how long this link will last, but there are a few people here who have lost out to the Marketsafe TOU

Both the complaints weren't upheld, though - seemingly 'cos the automated renewal was covered in the Terms and Conditions.

Just to answer the original question: marketsafe & creditsafe are sister companies.

I'm a little worried about the comment about them "lacking in the customer service department to the point of being arrogant" as I worked in their customer support dept for a few months - just wondering what the story was behind that, and if you could remember who you spoke to at the time?

Cheers,

Daniel

IMHO I don't think naming individuals would serve any purpose in this situation.

We have just been stung by Marketsafe.

We signed up to their service for one year and they acknowledge that we told them by phone that we would not renew in January 2007. However, we have just received a summons in Oct 2007 for the renewal amount relying on the fact that the online terms include a clause requiring written notification of cancellation.

How do we see that this sort of behaviour gets the maximum publicity? Companies like this need the maximum exposure so that they may achieve their own rapid self destruction.
