Default Mobile computing

Hi folks,

just wondering whether anyone uses any sub-laptop devices for computing on the go.

I've just been looking at one of these tempting little gadgets

Wow, I was doing just the same thing. But I was put off by the size, its not pocket compatible, its the same size as their catalogue. However, I then got to researching a bit more and founf the Nokis E90. This, is truly the turning point in mobile technology http://www.nokia.com/A4346040 I already have a SPV M3100 which has web browsing capability, but its screen is only 240 pixels wide, whilst the E90 has 800 pixels which means it can show most web sites without scrolling. Its ideal for me because all I want to do is review sites and look at traffic data and thats something that i prefer to do down the pub but a lap top is a bit OTT as i think people find it uncomfortable, but with the E90 it just looks like a phone. I'm getting it next Friday when Vodaphone get it in stock.

The Vye Mini-V looks like a very similar form factor to the Psion Series 7 I used to own. What a fantastic piece of kit that was!

The E90 looks interesting. I'm currently using a T-Mobile MDA Vario II. It's pretty good except that it's not the most stable PDA in the world and needs at least a couple of resets each week. Probably doesn't help that I've got it stacked full of 3rd party apps, but the stock phone needs beefing up for my needs. 3G Internet without having to worry about bandwidth charges is a big point in its favour, though.

Sorry about that - got caught by the spam filters. Happens when people with less than 10 posts post a link.

Ah, thanks for the heads up, Brian. I thought I was suffering from a lack of sleep!

Anyway, I read some good news for mobile data users on The Register today (I'm sure you can figure out the link!). 3 are offering 1GB of monthly bandwidth for £10, 3GB for £15 and 7GB for £25.

With both 3 and T-Mobile now offering good value 3G Internet access, hopefully it won't be long before the other networks start joining in and offering even better deals.
