Indeed - Platinax isn't the easiest name to remember, but business keyword domains - that are actually worth branding with - just aren't easy to find. I've had a look around before and there are possibly a couple I could buy for £1-2k, but I think I need to seriously think on branding aims if I go that way.
I bought the posts here to bring in the traffic, and help focus momentum - since I did that, Platinax has been busier than it has been previously, and I'm keen to ensure that continues. ![]() Chronicles is pretty big - but the ad revenue is utterly pants.

I've never had a problem remembering it, but it doesn't mean anything. So it's a resource for small businesses? Then why does it have an ambiguous 'business' name of its own? Always baffled me, so I'd definitely consider a useful domain name containing 'startups', 'small businesses' or something similar.

Okay, I've been giving this a *lot* of thought.
Platinax isn't a brand - it's an unpronounceable word that carries no meaning. I was trying to act clever, but got it wrong. There's an expiring domain I'm chasing that should be available in about 2 months time. I think it offers branding potential, says something about the site, and offers a much better name (and is pronounceable!). No hyphens, either. ![]() So, presuming all goes well and I'm able to grab this domain, Platinax will die in about 2 months time, and be rebuilt and redesigned and rebranding as something else - bigger and better. Stay tuned.

Brian, sorry to be a heavy bread head and all that but how will a re-branding effect existing paid for directory listing links - currently typically PR3.

I don't think it'll have any negative impact on the directory at all - in fact, if the site is rebranded in such a way as to be *brandable* and *memorable* and used by more people, then the value of directory listings will IMO increase.

Surely 'Platinax' is memorable for the reason that some will say it is not...the name..brand the name and make that first in business forums... Why follow the herd...businessinternetstartupforum.co.uk what a mouthful...'platinax' short memorable because it is different.
I am sure addidas is not looking to change their name to 'sports clothing production company' Anyway just thinking out aloud... |
