I am looking for a provider to host approximately 25 domain names.
Each one will consist of a single page with the individual domains as the only URL, but with no masking or forwarding, obviously cost would be an issue. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated?

If you don;t mind all of the sites being on the same IP, then a simple reseller hosting account should do the job fine - they tend to average around £10-£15.
However, if you're using these 1-page sites for link development purposes, then you'll probably need multiple IP ranges, in which case you'd probably need a specialist hosting provider who can cover multiple ranges. Like me. ![]() However, an overall pointer on single page sites - Google likes to see a handful of pages at least. If, you;re looking to leverage these sites for Google.

As Brian suggests a simple reseller account would do the trick, we could offer UK Linux, UK Windows or USA Linux.
Avoid anything much less than £5/month to be on the safe side of overselling as this is often a problem at the low end of the market.

It may help decide between solutions if I explain what I wish to do.
My main site is www.source4me.co.uk (I am currently re-hashing the layout and just starting on CSS) anyway I also own various domains such as buildingmaterials.uk.com etc. Rather than have these domains simply re-directing or forwarding to my main site I am basically looking to have different landing pages for these domains with onward links to my main site. Actually what would google think of this? and would a re-seller account still be the best bet here? Appreciate your comments so far.

Well personally I would do this across multiple IP ranges (not just different IP's but different datacenter's too).
If you were planning to do this with just a few domains then a single IP would probably be okay but because you are looking at doing it with more domains then Google would probably devalue the links for SEO purposes because of the same IP. Also Brian is spot on that single pages won't carry a lot of weight with the SE's - creating "micro sites" consisting of a few pages each (with unique content and good anchor text on your links) would be a much better solution. As for price... £15 - £25 per month is a reasonable amount to pay for such a setup.

Ok, I've no problem with a few pages for each domain.
Theoretically I can stretch to £10 a month if the account is flexible with domain names and I am certainly getting the impression that I need multiple IP's, bandwidth is unlikely to be an issue.

I very much doubt that you will get 40p per domain hosting - but you never know
You have to understand that although £10 sounds like a reasonable price to you, the maths works out at 40p per domain which is very very low for a host (we do have to put food on the table you know )Good Luck!

However, microsites have almost no value unless they too are being linked to. I think what you would really need is to look at incorporating the building of microsites with a link building program as a single overall package - that way you can have your hosting across different IP ranges, plus get links in to those sites while you add a couple more pages to each and make the sites more useful. If you go this way then you have a viable approach. However, if you wanted to simply keep the 25 sites as single pages, and host them within the same IP range, you're really just wasting your own time. Also, I would recommend you expect to pay more than £10 for 25 different IP ranges.

My apologies for the slow reply (for some reason I wasn't notified that replies had been posted).
I appreciate your comments re: cost (must admit I hadn't thought about it from that aspect). Some of the research I've come across has mixed opinions on the nessessity of having different IP's, do you really think this is essential? Quote:
It's not so much links that I am looking at as making use of the different URL's that I already own. Fairly obviously the search engines seem to favour search terms/keywords used in the url.

So, yes, links from different IP ranges are important. ![]() Quote:
Creating a network of microsites for link development is a common SEO practice - but they need to be developed into proper sites. At least you can save a few quid by setting up a few pages on each site yourself if you can, thus saving yourself a huge webdesign bill potentially running into thousands - yet here you're quibbling over much smaller hosting costs??
