Hi, I've read a lot about the power of article marketing and I've created a lot of material but what are your views and experiences of using the various direvtories.
Are certain ones better suited to the Internet Marketing niche? Are there any that are proven to be the best or most responsive? Do I need to be on dozens or are there bots that marketers use to search and will my article be picked up if it's just on a couple? By the same token will search engines now penalise for 'duplicate content' if posted across a multitude or directories? Thanks in advance for your help. Tony

I do article writing and submission s part of my link development service - but to be honest, I'm expecting to wind this down soon enough. At present it's used more from habit than anything else, but I think the benefits from doing so are limited at best, and is going to become even less useful over the near future.

I agree that there are more effective link building strategies than article marketing, however that is not to say it cannot be a play a part in your link building. Here are some article directories that I would recommend submitting to; the ones I have mentioned tend to send some traffic too.

We have this service on our website where people can go to the forum and post their own articles with their links. It allows other people to read true accounts and advice of business people as well as letting people market their sites by putting their links in. We also have on our site where each article you read, you can put a comment at the bottom which will also help with your google ranking

If they are good articles, only appear on 2 or 3 other sites at the most
I can put them on some of my pages if you like? You can put 2 or 3 deeplinks within the text and I will also acknowledge you (with a link) as the source. PM me if interested.

I'd not suggest going for article submissions any more as this has little/no effect in your promotional efforts.
You'd be better advised to be active on social networking world to benefit from articles on sites such as Digg/Technoratti etc. Last edited by rexbelly; 01-10-2007 at 01:13 PM. Reason: typo |

Ummm...article submission still works pretty well. Choose a subject that would interest your target audience, then write your resource box in a way that leads them to your site. Social networking does have its place, but I wouldn't use it as a replacement for distributing articles.
Also, I'd add goarticles.com to the list of article sites posted above.
