Not really sure if this is the right place to put this.... if not, I'm sure the mods will move it
![]() Put this tutorial together last night - let me know what you think. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/650672...uter_keyboard/ Cheers.

Big question - WHY?
For not a lot more than the cost of the spray can you can get a cheap keyboard these days without spending 30 mins or so fiddling about.

Another big question - Why not?
If the keyboard is in perfectly good order other than being dirty and grimy then absolutely it should be cleaned rather than replaced. Thank you to the OP

30 mins at minimum wage and a can of squirt is more than an average keyboard is worth. If it's a specialist keyboard, then perhaps, but not for your average PC keyboard, it's not cost effective.
I'm all in favour of recycling, but there has to be limits

Recently, my laptop was looking dusty so I pointed the hand-held attachment from the dyson and gave the keyboard a once-over. Unfortunately, I bumped into one of the cursor keys and it got sucked in.
Nowadays, I'll use something a bit gentler...

Also, no amount of air squirt would have saved an old laptop of mine from me spilling a pint of Stella over it

My problem with keyboards has been the letters wearing off, however it was the incompatibility with the additional keys and Vista that made me finally give in and replace it. It freaked out anyone wanting to use my old keyboard as most people need to look at the keys to type

I've heard about a "throw away society", but throwing a perfectly good keyboard in to a landfill just because you are too lazy to clean it?
![]() That's just shocking. Now then, time to get those dusters out and start polishing !
