I've read some awful reviews of freelance web designers from Elance & Guru etc and stinging criticisms on the forums.
Does anyone have experience of freelancers creating articles and content and were they worth the money? Thanx Sparky

Don't know about freelancers, but I have a few writers on my books, usually found via non-business forums, and the quality is good. I've tended away from freelancers because they often ask for rates far in excess of market value, especially on global markets.

I'd suggest posting job offers on freelance writing forums. There are many writers out there who don't know how to or don't want to make websites to earn from their writing. You may have to pay more than the bare minimum, but you can get some good quality articles in the $10-15 range.

Part of the problem with online content is that some web site owners are more concerned with peppering the content with keywords than with the overall relevance and quality of the piece. Pick any topic and try to insert a primary keyword fifteen times into a four hundred word piece, along with maybe five or six secondary keywords. Even if there is some good points in the article, they tend to get lost in the keyword shuffle.
Of course, many web site owners are happy with key word optimization of three to seven occurrences of the keyword, which is much easier to work with. |
