Default outsource or hire

is it better to ourtsource or to hire? I have a long term project and upon reflection we are thinking of hiring though may go the outsourcing route.

My reasoning is if we hire then if there are problems or enhancements these can be done immediately especially if we go worldwide and if we outsource then the costs will rise and we would have to book time for this

any views please or experiences. Apologies am unable to say what the project is but it is complicated and will be translated into several languages the sites

Have you considered hiring on a "fixed term contract" basis? There are lots of IT contractors out there, after all.

is fixed term not similar to outsourcing? also is there not something in employment law regarding hiring for a fixed term which will make them employees?

You're probably thinking of IR35.

You'll need to check this as the revenue keep moving the goalposts, but if the contract is crafted correctly then the contractor will not be your employee.

Generally you'll want to bring in someone for a specific project or task rather than for a specified time frame.
