At the moment I'm running entirely on referrals - spoken to 5, sold to 4. Spoke to 2 new ones this week and will write up reports for them to receive next week.

Cold calling I've not done so far - but am planning to a I really want to push out my SEO and webhosting via mailshot (my referrals are especially due to one of my SEO clients showing off his website and rankings ).

That is a good conversion rate. I wonder how much this will drop buy ( if any) from the mailshot leads?

This also proves again the following the sheep theory of sales sucsess.

It's simply that referrals are high quality leads - effectively, somebody has already sold you and your services to the person in question. All I have to do is walk through the door and not sound like a prat.

Of course, mailing will reduce the figures drastically. It's a different type of lead, and of much lower quality - you are still required to sell yourself properly.

Of course, it helps being pretty unique - no one else around here - probably East Yorkshire - can SEO like I can. I know I'm in for more referrals since my SEO customers got their results. If more people were offering the same service and guarrantees of results, then it would be much harder. I stand by my past record - which is precisely how my referrers are coming by me - past clients showing off what I got them on Google.

If you get a better rate for your leaflet drop of 1:3 your stats are good, 1:3 - 1:5 I would look at your comofrt factor statement. Greater than this we will optimise you subject to a reference and a link on your website under a topic equiviliant to: value added suppliers i.e. if you help your clients generate leads , we can help them close them which then gives us a win win win senario.
