Default 0800 numbers

As I've mentioned in another thread, we're looking to setup an 0800 number.

I've looked at a few sites offering these and there's certainly a lot of numbers to choose from.

My problem is, I want a specific 0800 number and I can't find a company that offers this service. Granted, Ive not spoken to any of them yet, merely looked at their sites

Any ideas, recommendations etc welcomed.

Thanks

There are quite a few companies offering specific numbers but they have to be available from the top level communications companies. Dependent on which number you are after, it could be extremely expensive. Speak to the well known companies first as it isn't just the number you need to think about, it's the level of service you receive if something goes wrong.

Cheers for the plug Brian

The main problem with getting an 0800 number or any non geographic number is that if company a owns the range 0800 123 xxxx then you can only purchase 0800 123 1234 from them.

I get many requests a day from people wanting spelt out names. One company that offered some nice 0800 numbers was telecomit.co.uk however not sure if they have changed there pricing structure.

Thanks for your replies.

I am indeed looking for a spelt out name... i guess im looking for whatever company owns either 0800 548.... or 0808 548.... ranges.

Any ideas how to track them down would be very useful.

Thanks again

bleh, ignore the above... BT own that range of numbers :/

Edit: Right, spoken to BT (useless!!!) and even though that range of numbers was allocated to them, they're not actually issuing from that range yet, and won't do until they've started to run low on the current ranges they're issuing from; nor will they let me reserve it.

Meh

Lol! Typical BT incompetence by the sounds of it - poor support for existing customers, and no support for prospective sales. Hah!

I'm torn to be honest... it's definitely less hassle to get an easy to remember number, but i really, really want this one that spells the word we want!

I know that remembering or dialing numbers via the 'word' isn't that big in this country but nevertheless, it's pretty cool ^^
