Ask Brian to do a review of your website, although many of use like to think our websites are fine, they are generally not. Techniques change and we have to change with them.

Generating traffic is something we all crave for. For SEO, getting inbound links to your site thru article marketing and submission to directories, social bookmarking, forum signatures should work just fine.
From a marketing perspective IMO, the more links you have, the more exposure you get and the more chances these links convert into traffic. It is best that you draw targetted traffic to your site as this has the highest rate of conversion. One usually gets this thru PPC, targetted link backs, forum posting on similar niche, You should focus on this more. Here is a checklist you may find useful in promoting your site. Hope it helps ![]() Free methods: Submission to SE's and directories Article marketing Email campaign Forums, blogs and board postings to targetted audience Social Bookmarking Etc. etc. Premium ways: (Should require a budget) Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Targetted Link backs Professional SEO services Ad spaces Offline campaigns Etc. etc. |

Mr Cat
I would like to comment on your post Free methods: Submission to SE's and directories - There is no need to subscribe to search engines nowadays Article marketing - A very good idea for the people who fully understand the duplicate content penalty and plagiarism Email campaign - Generally considered spam Forums, blogs and board postings to targeted audience - Agree with this Social Bookmarking - A growing method of generating traffic Etc. etc. Premium ways: (Should require a budget) Pay-Per-Click (PPC) - For those with deep pockets a good option Targeted Link backs - Strong on-theme inbound links are what its all about Professional SEO services - Like web designers, for 1 good one you get 25 cowboys. Ad spaces - Not tried this so cannot comment Offline campaigns - An all too easy easily forgot method

I'd disagree. Do you really think McDonalds or Adidas or whoever would be spending zillions on offline advertising if it were that easily forgotten? 'Course not. Offline promotion can be just as effective as online, it just works differently. For most companies, the most effective marketing strategy would be some mix of the two. |

I actually read this as Tracy saying it is a method that people usually forget about using. I may be wrong though. |

Indeed - I've been to a few conventions based on the topic of one of my big sites - always take "business cards" advertising the site with me. Made some great contacts, brought some great people to the site's community, and also helped raise its overall profile.

Hi,
I did mean it was a method easily forgotten by webmasters. The obsession with the little green bar and SERPS is a major distraction from mediums like offline advertising.

I think the problem is that offline stuff generally costs more. Businesses look on it as a cost and not an investment, which seems a bit daft, really.
