Yesterday, I opened a bank account for a new project which will be based online. The Business Manager advised me to use Worldpay, who I have used before and found to be good. His reasons for advising them is that Worldpay now promote online the business that they deal with - I have not heard of this or discover any affirmation of this on their website.
Does anyone have any info on this? |

If possible, I would avoid WorldPay. My reasons are lengthy so if you're bored (or just want to make an informed decision) take a read of my rant (was some years ago) here:
http://www.uh-hosting.co.uk/worldpay-thread/page1.htm http://www.uh-hosting.co.uk/worldpay-thread/page2.htm http://www.uh-hosting.co.uk/worldpay-thread/page3.htm http://www.uh-hosting.co.uk/worldpay-thread/page4.htm We still have an active WorldPay account, but stopped using it for new clients from January 2006, we have a large number FuturePay agreements still active. All new clients from January 2006 go through ProtX (who are now owned by Sage) with a HSBC merchant account, lower transaction charges and only 3 day remittance. Cash flow wise WorldPay have you over a barrel, not very good for a new business, despite their claims. Your business manager doesn’t happen to work for Natwest or RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland)? As WorldPay is owned by RBS and RBS owns Natwest. |

I'd also point out that Worldpay transaction charges and fees are far higher than any other provider I know of - as a start-up I'd look more at Paypal and Google Checkout than Worldpay.

I recently switch our UK Office from Worldpay to HSBC. HSBC is much more intuitive and stable. Their API includes reporting as well as all the transaction related items.
I never saw any SEO benefit from Worldpay while with them. They may list you in their directory, but it is hardly worth a single link. HSBC is a much bigger provider as well. Kin Lane - Original Web Solutions |
