Web 2.0 is simply a "buzz word" for the new technologies that are changing the way that we view content on the internet - streaming media, podcasting and video blogging are all examples of WEB 2.0
It is also bringing about discussions on content, and more importantly censorship and policing of content on the net - There is currently a meeting being held of the IGF (the Internet Governance Forum) that is trying to bring about standards and policies for policing content... The BBC has a reporter at the conferance who is blogging the important points raised at the meeting http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6090394.stm

who is developing it a consortium or it is country based? So if by policing does that mean everyone will be obliged to use these technologies or be outlawed? Who or what is the driving force behind this?

Web 2.0 is just a shorthand to describe the way the Web is evolving; it isn't anything 'official'. There aren't any technologies or standards.
Having said that, I think it's useful to think of the Web as a new medium, rather than the thing we've all become accustomed to. It's helpful to ask the question : if I was redesigning the Web today, how would it work? What would the user interface be like? How would people connect with one another and with ideas? By asking naive questions like this, we can tease out new businesses and also new twists on proven business ideas. |

The way I understand web 2.0 ... Its a general idea of the web getting more user-involved. Did that make any sense? Not really...
The web will be leaning more toward public collaboration: blogs, wikis, networking sites, interaction, and less toward static websites etc. Something like that. I think. |
