Hm, that would have been interesting.
![]() But it's showing as PR6 here. Sometimes sites bounce around their PR during an update - but as we've only just had one, I would be surprised if there was an update in the works so soon after. I don't believe I've ever made a point to transgress Google's webmaster guidelines - my "hat" my not be pure white, but neither is it very dark. Never cloaked, built doorways, or similar - so a PR0 would certainly be a surprise. Frankly, though, I don't subscribe much to PR these days anyway - a nice badge, rather than anything particularly practical, IMO. And my business model is primarily local, so I don't make much of an effort to rank for anything major for britecorp.

Google seems to have done a job of crippling the way on-page elements work in themselves - so trying to gain PR for PR's sake does not appear in itself to help your on-page elements.
And other factors seem much more involved these days - I've noticed that you can put a link to your site up on a links page, but a search for your anchor text, instead of bringing your site up, insetad brings up the links page. Link text simply doesn't seem enough in itself, and there seems to be a system of "authority" working. How this system of "authority" works I'm not quite sure, but I would guess that it involve sone or more of the following: 1/ links from similar themed sites 2/ links from known hub sites (general authorities)

Ah - now thanks for that - I actually thought I'd just set up the .com version to redirect to the .co.uk version.
I definitely *don't* want the .com version being seen as a new site, as that's mirroring and duplicate content, and Google will eventually get around to having my bottom for that! I'd better get around to setting up redirects.
