Anyone know how to easily write a web site for a mobile phone, ie, the first second and third steps on that path?
I want to make sure each of my clients has a page holder for that platform so that when people look them up on thir phone they are there. |

Depends on the phone's capability, are you looking to support HTML or XHTML or WAP browsers ?
Many of the major phone manufacturers provide software emulations of their phone to developers, so you can build & test the different platforms.

I have no idea. I have a Motorola (which incidently has 1gb memory and video, which is why I brought it, but only 15 seconds of video recording?) and I was surfing the internet to learn how to turn blue tooth on and found a pdf that detailed how to wright applications for the Motorola ROKA, but I lost that link.
To awnser your question, I guess WAP. Or html. Not xhtml though as I dont do anything more than rss. |

You'll find plenty of WAP tutorials on Google.

Never designed specifically for mobile devices before - but I am under the impression that browser standards are even more of a mess on PDA's than normal web browsers.
Even still, hopefully a few of the links here will be of help: wap design tutorial - Google Search= Hopefully that goes a little way to being of help - genuinely sorry I could do more.

WAP is fairly consistent as it was designed to cater for mobiles, however many phones / PDA's have an HTML or XHTML browser as well these days, this is where the fun & games comes in. My PDA (PalmOS) doesn't have JavaScript, however does do an excellent HTML render.
I would suggest that WAP and a software phone simulator would probably be as good a start as any so you can get a feel of things, then decide where you want to go when you've seen WAP. Note: You can get Opera for many phones now which may help.
