Default Platinax a PR7?

Peter pointed out a SEO PR tracking down earlier, that seems to suggest that Platinax is a PR7:

http://www.httppoint.com/seo_tool_pr.php?url=http://www.platinax.co.uk&ds0=1

Got to admit, I'm more than cautious - a PR7 would be a nice badge to wear, but would be quite a surprise. I'll believe it when I see it on the toolbar.

Either way, something that's come up in conversations before on Platinax is that PR isn't an entirely meanginful measure of anything. Focus on visitors and rankings is much more important.

At the end of the day, PR itself can be an interesting badge to wear when you have a decent PR value, but unless that value is translatable into a tangible measure of traffic and conversions then it's a meaningless value.

And in terms of Platinax, I see the PR value as not meaningful - I want more traffic, and better targeted, too, so that people who visit the site will be happy to refer it to other people - and the core aim of helping other business online for free is underlined.

2c.

Hey Brian, hope it sticks for you - it looks around 6.5 at the mo.

I think PR is important still. Post BigDaddy it's vital to getting your pages spidered and indexed reliably.

Ya, I know.. I really don't need to say it...

Ego Strokers, link exchangers and sellers. THEY should care

True enough though as B adn I have mentioned elsewhere, it can be a great indicator

For example a potential client comes along and says he went from a PR4 to a PR0 (and verified across DCs), I will certainly revue what recent SEO activity that has been done towards the site.

In general;

PR0 Big trouble (or new site)
PR1-2 Something minor is likley amiss
PR3-4 They give em away like candy, Means 'Good Job'
PR5-6 Good content, strong links, some age/authority
PR7-8-9; We bow before your might
PR10 ....you age greater the Google itself

By no means definative, it basically is to show that PR can be a form of indicator and does have an intrinsic value. Just not a measurable one that warrants marketing invesments (ie; paying to have a higher PR).

Crikey - Platinax is indeed showing PR7 on the homepage.
