Default Excel question

I've seen people set up Excel spreadsheets where the top row - ie, the table headings - are set up like a frame where they are static when you scroll down through the rows - so no matter how far down in the spreadsheet you are, the table headings are showing.

Not sure how to do this - anyone advise?

Go to the “Windows” menu at the very top of the screen and select the “freeze panes” function. Columns to the left of, and rows above the active cell will then be frozen.

Regards

I only clicked on the topic of Excel to rant. It is the one invention that for whatever reason, drives me absolutely bananas. Is it efficient? Yes. Professional? Absolutely. The bain of my existance? For sure.

I hear you. It too drives me crazy. However, the more I use it, and it is absolutely necessary that I do, the more I become accustomed to it. I really rely on tutorials, as difficult as some of those are to follow.

Oh gosh... I never could get all those formulas for computing things in Excel. I use it for basic info charts I have to make and checklists. Its a convenient graph paper to me.

I only use it for informational purposes and totaling straight columns. I hope to get better at it. Those formulas are a nightmare.

Am I the only one here who loves Excel? I love spreadsheets and playing with numbers.

No!!! I love it too. I was reading everyone's posts and thinking - wow, I'm a big dork! I'm an analyst by trade, so I use it for some pretty complex things, but I love to sit down and figure out ways to do more complicated things.

Yup, you are a big dork Just kidding!

That freeze frame thing will come in handy for me since my to-do checklist has gotten bigger than one page.
