Default Dealing with automated spam

I've had real fun this weekend, with a deluge of automated spam coming from a range of sites hosted with Moniker:

600+ automated comment spam, despite my actively blocking almost 150 IP's used during the attacks.

Anyway, if anyone else has similar problems, I've set up a tutorial on blocking spam IPs:
