Hi,
I am in need of a business bank account for my business. Can anyone recommend any banks that will deal with a 16 year old sole trader? Any response would be greatly appreciated, this is not something I'm experienced with at the moment. |

Hi,
Most UK banks offer 18 months free business banking and tend to phase in bank charges after that date, I am not sure what the minimum age limit is though. Good Luck

Hi mpatel, and welcome to Platinax.
![]() I think you may have difficulty opening a business account at 16 - what you may have more success with is if you were able to open a joint account with someone over 16. I know it's embarrassing - but, hey, I once had to open one with my mum for my first marketing venture, simply because I was long-term unemployed, which meant that I had no credit history, and the bank refused to provide even a Visa debit unless someone with a credit rating signed up for a join account for the first 6 months. Anyway, good luck with it.

I was able to open one at 16 with NatWest with Mum in tow, this was some almost 4 years ago.
If you also have a personal account with the bank they'll extend the free banking, generally 12 months free banking is the standard, but they'll extend that to 18 months.
