I know everyone wants to be ranked in the top 5 but how do I go about doing it?

If you mean about being ranked top in Google, the big issue is links. Namely, lots of links from lots of different websites on different IP blocks.

Ideally, all or most of these links should include the actual keywords you want to be ranked for.

So, for example, if you wanted to be ranked first for "pink custard", then you would need to ensure that a lot of your links from different IP blocks contained the term "pink custard" in the actual link to your page/site.
