Default New design!

Well, as you've probably noticed, the Platinax site has been migrating to a new design concept...

It's now almost finished - the main site has now been updated with the new design, to make everything simpler and easier to use:

Here's the busy old design - with too many links, too confusing for visitors, no real aim or focus excepting to be link heavy:

And here's the new design - much simpler and easy to read, navigate, and use:

Of course, it's moments like this I remember how much I *hate* webdesign - it's so damn time-consuming!!

Still got amendments to make to the site - footer links, remove old content, and also going to make a couple more changes to the forums just to represent them more in line with the main site - nothing major, but enough.

Next I have to set up the blogs in the new format...

Damn, better catch up with the news as well...

EDIT: Special thanks go to Mark at Eagle Imagery for doing the Platinax icons, and bumfluff at Seed Design for setting up the new design template in a CSS-only format.

I like it very much

I used to have shades of grey over @ Teneric

Then I asked everyone what they thought of the site/ navigation etc etc

You know, everyone said the greys were the worst parts

*sigh*

I agree - there's always a danger of grey being bland. I'm on a balancing act here because to create a sense of "platinum" I'm visually suggesting it with silver greys. Still, the great thing about the internet is that it's easy to change and adapt as needed.

Brian,
Been reading some of the bloggs today - very interesting reading by the way, I noticed that the google ads are being cut off by the right column.

It looks far better.

Edit: I have discovered a problem in Firefox 1.5, look at this screenshot (click on image for full size) the bullet points are not positioned where they should be in your screenshot

Thanks for the heads up, too - I'll see if changing the CSS will help...
