Default Server move

Just to let you know that we'll be moving server tomorrow morning, all things being good.

Although I've no real complaints about my US server at Liquidweb, I really want to host Platinax in the UK, on a UK server.

So tomorrow we should be moving to the new server I have at Clook.

Hopefully everything wil go fine.

That was quick mate, but why move everything to the UK, is it more cost efficient?

Not at all.

My server in the US cost £180/month to run - the equivalent in the UK is costing me £280!

The difference is that I'm really trying to ensure I have a strong presence on UK searches on Google UK.

Although simply having a UK domain (ie, .co.uk, .org.uk, etc) is good enough to qualify for UK only listings - I have it on authority that a UK IP will strengthen your rankings on .co.uk.

Although the UK server costs more in the short term, by removing some advertising, and moving a couple of reseller accounts to it, I reduce those immediate costs. And in the longer term, I think the overall benefits will certainly outweigh the costs for targeting the UK internet marketplace.
