First it was "Don't do evil"
Then it was "We want to organise the world's information". Somehow the sum of those has resulted in the practical mantra: "We want to put ads onto everything" Somehow it seems like a sad movement away from being a technology company - especially when it means they are trying to take other people's information without permission (Google Library, various Privacy concerns, etc) to set up the advertising with.

It has been quite a shift in direction really from google.
They first appeared almost as an "ethical" company but I guess as generally always happens they have abandoned some of their principles due to the lure of the green stuff. |
