Ultimately I think it is up to the business to choose what business model they want to operate from... Low Cost Provider? Niche? Premium?
Some people wouldnt mind paying few extra bucks... or pennies...

That's part of the problem, though - if the savings aren't being passed to customers, but instead to the shareholders, then the customer sees no change in price regardless.

To sum it all up:

I also believe the "cheap cheap" is the reason behind outsourcing to India and for that I partly blame the customer.

People (some) want things cheaper, but they fail to realise they may have to compensate for the cheap price themselves. Our college graduates face a tougher job market because their parents wouldn't pay the few extra pennies.
"There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person's lawful prey." (Usually attributed to someone named Ruskin.)

Of course, another way of looking at the problem is from the viewpoint of the people whose jobs have been outsourced.

Most of the people have the attitude ‘I want the quality, but I don’t want to pay the price for it, that is the reason that they fall in such prey. Overall they need perfection in a product or service to achieve defect free status but they don't try to understand that all the above inputs have their hidden costs or direct costs which makes the end product apparently expensive.

Customers will never bother to think about that!
Basically even myself as a customer, I would choose the best product - in terms of price vs quality vs service. If there is someone who could provide all three, definitely the customers will flock to them.
In the 80s Toyota used similar strategy to outsell GM in the States itself. Lower cost but higher quality. Is that not our aim?

If you add value on your service and target specifically those customers who pay for the quality, the problem can be solved.

Why not share your experiences then? It'd mean a lot more than an unqualified statement like that.

Sorry, but I'm just a little cynical as to your reasons for posting. Maybe your nick has something to do with that.
