I'm curious what people think of Platinax as a name.
I've been looking at it recently, wondering if I made a bad choice for branding purposes. I've especially noticed people having problems spelling the site. It seems difficult to remember. I keep wondering if perhaps I've tried to be too clever with the name. I'm tempted to rebrand to something simpler and easier...

I am going to admit to being totally ignorant here, but I have totally NO idea how you came by the name? (it obviously means something to you though).
BUT Having said that... I like the name, I don't know why - it's just "different", but different can be GOOD - I mean, before a certain slightly famous search engine came along... when was the word Google used in the English language And if people are spelling the site wrong then just include the mis-spellings in the META Tags... (That's if META tag's count for squat these days???) Tony

Well, I do remember reading a post somewhere about how you came up with the name and for me, it does summon up the idea/image of platinum which is re-enforced by the site colour scheme. So being associated with platinum - rare and precious can't be bad. However I could well be the only one making these associations.
Don't want to spoil it all now but whilst browsing the forum the other day I started ruminating (?) on what we as forum members would be called and could only come up with 'Platinakers'.

Thanks for the comments.
![]() And, of course, it's typical that I would only start properly questioning the brand name after setting it up as a limited company and opening up a business bank account for it...

I can sympathise with your position. Over time I have purchased various domain names for my projects in waiting, thinking, 'yep, they're the ones'. Then I come up with another and another.
That was one of the reasons for my post the other day, (All for one). As I get nearer to completion I want to make the right choice before I lock myself in. At least once I have decided I'll have about 3 thousand domains to sell. |

I think it is a great name Brian! Original, and like Pete says, associated with platinum can't be bad... it gives me an impression that Platinax is in a class of its own!
Also, generic names could have a real problem to branding, no?

Keep the name, its unique and easy to remember, it sticks out from the crowd as does the site.
