Looks like the second part of the update is hitting the datacenters now - Britecorp has dropped out from position 2 on UK searches, to around 100 on Update Jagger 1, to 250 on Update Jagger 2 for "internet marketing". Guess third time lucky, eh?

Funnily enough, on "Web" searches of Google UK I've only dropped to 11th, which could look like natural background movement.

Ok, this vindicates why I wasn't concerned about losing rankings - remember I droppped to around 250?

Now the UK only search results return my company at No.7.

Okay, so I'm not at No.2 anymore - I've lost 5 places - but I'm still in the Top 10 and can build on that if I need to.

Bottom line is - when an update hits, don't panic - sit back and let things settle.

Of course, my rankings could still drop - but that's always been a part of the game.

We are still seeing movement from one Datacentre to another. We are moving from position 9 to 18 for our main key phrase. We used to be 5th for the web search pre Jagger.

The most frustrating point is that we are only really ranking for keywords we have used as Anchor Text on links. But when you search for a service only we supply because it is location specific we do not show up. The results that do show are not relevant at all!!

I am hoping there is still more changes to come or Google will get its wish as we up our AdWords budget.

Oops - fallen to ~30, but I shouldn't think things have settled yet...

We are moving up slightly - now position #10 for UK filtered search and #11 for web search.

Still getting junk results (authority sites which are not relevant) for less competitive search terms. There are usually only about 3 relevant sites on page 1 in these less competitive terms, the rest are just old, large established sites that may mention the term once but in no context that is relevant.

Still needs to improve in my opinion.

I can't help but feel that every Google update this year has hurt their relevancy, rather than improved it.

Googles update has just got me as well. I was liking a nice top ten listing for most of my keywords. Orders were going great then bang. Straight to page 2 and 3.

If I can get 100 plus backlinks will I go back up again as I have a link off everypage on another of my sites that should boost my ranking.

I hear that one of the main victims of the Jagger update was link networks - ie, link exchange programs. If you're interlinking your sites you may find that isn't benefiting you as it may have previously.

2c.

EDIT: Now showing at no.17 for "internet marketing" - seem to be settling back up.

In my opinion text links still help gain position, our highest ranked key words are those we have a lot of in bound text links for.

However, 100 links from the same site is not worth anything like 100 links from 100 different sites.

UH's PR has remained on 6 for the frontpage for a while now. I'd like to have that upto 7.

We rank very highly for the keyword "hosting" for UK only searches. But I'd like to branch this out and possibly have that keyword for International searches, or "unix hosting" for International searches.

The site is mainly un-optimized. I've not done any specific to date. Will do something about that soon.
