Default 'Support needed' for UK entrepreneurs

There have been some interesting news articles covered across BBC News 24 programs, not least of entrepeneurial activity in Britain - how to support, sustain, and encourage it.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants just happened to do its own survey of the matter, and concludes that Britain is significantly lagging behind in the developed world precisely on these issues.

It will be very interesting indeed to see if these reports lead to any form of initiative from the British government. Somehow, I wouldn't hold my breath just yet...

More could be done by the UK Government to encourage an enterprise culture, according to chartered accountants.

A poll of 1,300 Institute of Chartered Accountants members found they believed the UK lagged behind other countries in the development of entrepreneurs.

Better education on enterprise in schools was suggested, as well as easier access to finance and cuts in small business taxes. The survey was supported by the Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank.
