Default Hurricane Rita

After lashing Florida and Cuba, Hurricane Rita may hit the southern US soon. Rita belongs to Category 5 Hurricane which is the highest on the scale.
People are evacuating New Orleans,Houston,Texas. It must be a very difficult experience for them. My best wishes are with all those people who got affected with the monster Katrina and I hope Rita doesn't cause severe damage.

Default Re: Hurricane Rita

I have to say, I have little sympathy when for a decade now, the world's scientists have been warning the USA that Global Warming has been happening as a result of human pollution, and to expect more severe weather, especially hurricanes.

In response, the US government and lobby groups spent their time smeaing the scientists, removing them from office, and launching a media campaign that portrayed science as usurped by "eco-terrorists", that there was no Global Warming, and if there was, it was entirely natural and not really a problem anyway.

So as we've seen increasingly bad weather here in the UK and people have muttered "Global Warming" so does the America nation need to wake up to the fact that Global Warming should not be a political issue but a global issue, and that it is as much in their interests as any to take responsibility for that.

Of course, no one can prove that the hurricanes Katrina and Rita are caused by Global Warming - but science has long warned that the world is warming, human pollution is behind it, and to expect more severe hurricanes from it. Seems rather remarkable that the scientist predictions appear to continue to be right, while the US is left wallowing in rhetoric.
