Default Old School Marketing vs New School Marketing

Interesting set of comparisons here:

Obviously, an important point to raise is that we're facing a completely different set of markets - old school could mass market, but the internet and mass media are fragmenting into niche markets, and this is what the new marketer has to adapt to.

Still, there are key principles that should work in both - not least that customer care can (I'd say should) always be an important part of your marketing strategy.

A agree with the new ethos apart from in the old school it says marketers have the power. Yes we do but in a different way. Sales are the lifeblood of every company and hence get the best sales & marketing people/ help you can. Yes we might be a bit big for our boots, but if you treat us well, our success will be your success.

PS as for telling the truth many companies who sell one off deals are often the biggest culprits. If you need to get repeat business i.e. IT sales telling the truth is a must, but for one of deals many sales/ marketing people are told/ put under so much pressure that they will do anything for a sale because they know they will never sell to that person / company again.

I think "You believe on it" of what you call neo marketing can be useless unless and until your product or service is not specific and targeted as customers usually perceive and if you are not meeting the customers need and wants.

Actually I mean that the customers still must believe on your products (as per the old marketing school thought) and overall on you, otherwise they might simply reject your product.

Secondly focusing on branding are still being implemented by most of the companies either directly or indirectly meanwhile they're also focusing on the passionate customers and creating their brand awareness.
