Default Does this sell the product?

Would you buy that product?

Do you think the advertising perhaps paints a negative picture of the product?

Actually, I see this as having a positive effect... There target consumers will be 12 to 30 year old party people who will be looking for instant fresh breath whilst courtship and nights out.. When you find something really funny it stays in your mind.. It was quite funny

You can tell that most comments made to the advert are postive and I don't even speak Dutch.

Yikes. I didn't think that was funny. But then I'm not between the ages of 12 and 30.

I thought it was funny, and it made me aware of their product, which is more than can be said of a lot of advertising.

No. I've heard of "keeping a cool head" before, but this is ridiculous!

(On the other hand, I'm probably not part of the target audience.)

Sure, I would buy it. I liked it.

Not something I would have my 2 year old son accidently watch though. He's too young to date.

Best regards,
Gunnar Skeid

I think it gets across the main USP well and yes, I'd probably buy it even though I am well over the target age category.

I think we got to view it from a USA point of view where there is too much advertising compared to here in UK. The advertising agency has gone for a shocking technique to make the ad memorable I guess.

My humble opinion of course...

True, but it's not all the same. I've noticed a number of techniques used on the Web, in different sales promotion pieces.

First, there is the appeal to vanity. Tell your visitor that you know he or she is special, not the run-of-the-mill customer. Say things like:

"You've seen all the web hosting services, and you know that..."

"Because of your special knowledge..."

"Like all New Yorkers, you..."

In other words, "You know something that other people don't."

Second, there is negative credibilty. Tell your visitor everything you are not.

"We're not here to tell you how to run your business..."

"You won't get rich quick using our services, but..."

"Our forums aren't for flamers, spammers or 'wise guys'..."

Third, make the visitor feel he might be "left out" if he doesn't explore your site (business) further.

"For a limited time only..."

"Not everyone who applies for our services is approved..."

"We obviously can't accomodate the enormous amount of orders we've received this month..."

Fourth, you can appeal to the average, confused consumer:

"Tired of listening to all the 'experts', each contradicting the other?"

"You've worked hard to buy that house, now we're here to help you..."

"This country was built by people like you, who weren't afraid to..."

Of course, which approach you use depends on what you're selling, but you can see these techniques working in numerous different markets.

I received one the other day that began "Dear Property Owner".

Still, if written to the "right" niche audience, they might be effective.
