Default ISP issues?

Been having some real issues with the internet after about 1pm - any chance this is a local exchange problem, or is there a wider issue with network/carriers out there??

Can access a few sites now, but still some unavailable.

Seems fine here (Manchester - NTL 3mb/s)

Which ISP are you using?

I'm using BT from just outside of Stirling - my first thought was a problem at the local exchange, but I could access some sites and not others - for example, even though this site is hosted near Chicago, I could access it - but not the BBC's in London or WebHostingTalk in Texas.

Carrier issues perhaps? Anyway, all's fine now.

Yep, sounds like a routing issue - although BT of all people should have decent redundancy in this area! (unless it was out of their control). A DNS problem is also a possibility

Never mind - all sorted now

Yep - but I don't like the vulnerability.

WebHostingTalk is part of the iNet group, and they've been having some security problems lately. Someone hacked into their eDevCafe site and was using it to enter the other sites. Possible iNet was down for repairs or security checks.

Thanks for the info - seems a bit strange that iNet can't lock down their security - they have plenty of systems worth keeping secure!
