Default Platinax delisted from Yahoo!

Had word from a Yahoo! rep last night that apparently Platinax was delisted from Yahoo! in November, over an alleged DMCA violation - a violation of copyright according to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.

That means that all pages from platinax.co.uk are entirely absent from Yahoo!, and have been since November, when I received 173 hits from Yahoo! - the only Yahoo! traffic this site has ever had.

Seems somewhat odd and quite unfair - if I ever violated copyright, it was not intentionally - yet I have not knowlingly received any communication from any third-party, let alone Yahoo!, asking me to defend Platinax against any allegations of DMCA violations.

Perhaps this is the new easy way to wipe out sites maliciously from search?

Either way, definitely something I'm chasing up with Yahoo!'s legal dept. If I have violated copyright with any content here, I'll be happy to remove it once informed of where the violation is.

I can't say I really appreciate being delisted without any attempt to raise such concerns with myself, either by the claimant, or Yahoo!.

But we'll see how this issues goes.

Oh - and yesterday saw our best traffic yet, totalling over 4,000 unique visitors in a single day - all from natural organic search. Platinax grows from strength to strength, and it's a genuine shame I don;t have any Yahoo1 traffic to add to those stats.

Will report on how this is resolved, if possible.

You mean Yahoo didn't even tell you what copyrights have been violated?

For the last few days I've been using copyscape to locate people who have copied my content. I have so far found 3 different web design companies who have copied the first line of text on the Ecru homepage and substituted the name of their company. In a way it's a compliment, we spent a lot of time writing that text...

So far as I understand it, when a DMCA is filed, the accuser affirms that they either have or will send a notice by mail of violation within 14 days. The accused then has about this time to respond.

However, I've never received anything, and Yahoo! doesn;t make any effort to either check DMCA allegations, or even make a public filing of such reports.

So, altogether, Yahoo! are looking pretty incompetent at the moment.

However, Google loves the site completely - 85,000 uniques last month, and currently touching near 6,000 uniques per day in June. Shame to not have the Yahoo! traffic in there as well, though.
