Default Dogpile

Dogpile is one of those great ideas - build a meta-search engine to get the best of the other big search engines.

Unfortunately, they take this great idea and spoil it by poor application. A particular failing is that it is just so full of sponsored ads, without separating them from natural search results.

For example, when I tried this search for "science fiction fantasy", of the 20 results displayed, only 6 were natural results - the rest were all adverts.

I'm a real fan of the concept of meta-search, but all too often I see meta-search engines spoil things by invading the potentially useful search results with adverts.

Maybe one day I'll see the concept well applied...
