Good morning,
Do you have some news about the new algorithm "Trust Rank"? I have read the Standform white paper and seems to be pretty sure now! At least, in that way people will be more serious on considering to whom they are linking to, and, more important, the quality of their links (even regarding the link quality at whom they are linking to). It is going to be easier to avoid bad neighbourhoods in the future !Ina |

I have to admit, I can't help but feel that the concept of "TrustRank" is either naive or a joke - there are plenty of algorithm variations out there in the patent system for removing low quality sites, and removing incentives for aggressive SEO to work. So the idea of "TrustRank" seems a little bizarre at best - or perhaps it's simply the title I find off-putting?
anyway, the link just ends up at Microsoft for me... ???

No problem at all with asking - it is a bona fide paper, so my comments were directed at the paper authors themselves.
![]() I say it seems a little naive of them to formulate "TrustRank" because so far as I am aware, Google already has a lot of the points covered in various other patents/applications. As for whether TrustRank itself is applied - well, I guess we'll never know. Certainly the principles are worth taking note of - as before, Google already seems to have a lot of this already covered from various angles.

The problem is even worse in SEO, where speculation really breeds.
![]() Personally, I'd suggest anyone just focus on building a quality site, with quality content, and with a range of different types of links to it. After that, use experience of what appears to work and what may not, and generally be patient with the experience.
