Maybe worth going back and seeing if I can get a different salesman.
That's what I would do.

LOL

There are just lots of burger flippers in sales that should go back to the working for the golden arches!

Haggling is usually pointless. If you're worried about every dime and nickle you spend, you'll go into the nut house very quickly.

Sorry rtroxel I dont think a person has ever been so wrong every in the history of this Forum.

people haggle becuase it means the need to have less money to get the same thing which lets them either earn less or buy more. Business have purchasing departments just to do this very thing. Can everyone else be wrong or in the nut house?

i believe this is going to be a long post...

trade is all about negotiation or as in turkey and greece say pazari (bazaar).
it all comes down on how to understand the buyers higest price that he/she is willing to pay and for the buyer to understand his/her "base" -used by the maritime industry stating the price where you are in the break even-.

there are a lot of discussions, books etc regarding this issue. my belief is that it is all a matter of psychology understanding, listening, watching everything and making conclussions.

As a general consumer, I never really saw any issue with haggling - but in a business environment, there seems to be a lot of give and take with suppliers and producers as to how much they will change initial pricing. From a personal perspective, larger and repeat orders always seems to come with some expectation of discounting. I'm already learning never to show my lowest preferred price first, which I used to offer as an incentive, but now keep closer to my chest.

I spent half of yesturday email haggling just to find out what a client wanted. It was like we were both haggling over whether I should know what he wants me to do. Eventually he told me what he wanted, after I gave him the quote he said I would have to do him a few banners then he would pay me for them if he liked any doh.

well, think how you feel as a business owner when someone haggles with you.

It's no big deal, and often you'd be happy to agree to sell something cheaper...not a big deal.

If you don't feel like coming down or your prices are firm, just say no, sorry the prices are firm.

I think most women have more balls about haggling than guys do though.

It's a shoppers thing.

Not sure I would like to meet a woman who had balls. That does sound scary!

I love a good haggle, great fun, but the best haggler I know is my web designer. He will barter over the cost of a pint in his local. I hate selling to him as he will always show me a website or an advert with it cheaper!
I've told him he's coming with me when I buy my next motorbike

When haggling I use a combination of the "I like it but don't need it" and the walk away tactic, and leave my phone number "if you change your mind". I have one the odd occasion used the counting the notes out onto the counter and saying "take it or leave it" approach also - nothing works aswell as cash when haggling.
