Google would normally be better - its phrase matching is certainly better than MSN. The trouble is that Google are returning relatively poor results at the moment.
I tried using MSN Search as my homepage for a while, but I kept having to monitor Google so I changed back to using Google UK as my homepage. I'm now trying Yahoo! Search for my homepage - never really taken Yahoo! seriously before, but am now. I'm simply making a consumer decision on the fact that Google's results are getting poorer.

I select my main search engine on the basis of what the majority of people use. I might not like the results that it returns but it helps me to tune in to the zeitgeist.

Hi,
MSN new version is really great... I like the speed of MSN new algorithm.. Still I believe Google is Best.. mainly becoz of its simplicity and speed. Majority of people across world prefer Google. Sometimes I do get not very exact results from Google... majority of times it gives correct results. Although I am not getting very good SEO results in Google at the moment unlike Yahoo and MSN, ...but I believe Google is the Best.

I first got into Google when I was at university (as a mature student!) back in 1999, I was won over by its simplicity and the relevance and speed of its search. I know there are many who would say that Google has lost its way but I think Google remains head and shoulders above its rivals.
The new MSN search is the closest so far to rivalling Google, and it's already succumbed to sponsored links above and below the organic results - what a shame!

As a user or as a business trying to rank well?
As a user: Google, but perhaps mainly out of habit and only because I think I know how to search better using it As a business: Yahoo! and MSN because my site ranks better with them :P
