Don't rely on website - use offline marketing for the sort of customers you service. Cards in shop windows, small ads in pares etc hand out cards in public areas.

Kramark,

There are so many people selling items on the internet. You may need to define your product with the right websites. For example, shoes, you may need to advertise where shoes are most successful selling on the internet. You cannot expect to advertise in the same areas for different product to get results.

Hi Kramark,
There are a few things you need to do to get your website noticed. First is to get the search engines to find it.
You need to list in as many free directories as possible that relate to wherever you want your market from. Sorry as I cant see your website, I have to generalise.
If you can write articles then that is a very fast way to be ranked higher, write articles about any subject on which you are knowledgeable and that can relate to your site. Do not put links in your article but in the BIo section. These are best posted on sites like ezines, articlecube, and any sites relative to your area of expertise or locality.
Do you have a blog on your site? These are a big help to get noticed by google.
If you have the budegt then spend 50 dollars a month on a google adwords campain.
Make sure your keywords are really relevent. keywords must be also on your home poage to be effective, and should be what people are searching for, otherwise they dont help you.
Ensure you have a strong meta description that accurately reflects your site.
We have as part of our business the easysell classifieds sites for Australia, NZ and America, if we can work together somehow we can talk about that. If you google easysell you will find them, we cant list a link yet.

I hope the above few things are useful, we actually found using non net advertising was not very effective and we wasted a lot of money on cards, flyers, tshirts, caps etc....we find the internet itself is the best medium. We have a colleague in Australia who spent over 500k on a great ad campaign for a classified site and got nowhere! We now only use the web for promotion.
If you want to send your website name, perhaps I can be of a bit more specific help.
Regards

Hi Jay
There are many ways of promoting your online business. You can promote it through social media marketing for free or doing back linking to your site from other relevant sites; forums comments on blogs etc. Try facebook and twitter which are also free to use or try making a video and back link to it for search engine ranking. If you have a budget you can use PPC (pay per click) advertising with one of the search engines or yet again facebook. To be honest the list is endless. Hope this helps

Try doing offline promotion as well as online promotion. Promotional items, email campaigns, social networking, forums, blog comments, self car advertising, lots of business cars shared across your circle of acquaintances etc.
