Does anyone know how to get dreamweaver to work on a linux PC?
If not can anyone recommend a good html editor for linux users.

Why not try WINE, you may find that dreamweaver will run under emulation.

Even better the 3rd response from a google search for "dreamweaver on linux" returns an article on how to do this

more seriously, I don't think there is any product as comprehensive for web design as dreamweaver.
You can the "opens source alternative" website which provides lists of alternatives to commercial programs - http://www.osalt.com/dreamweaver
