Hi guys.
I've finally succomed to diving in and having a go with an ecommerce store. I wanted to know if anyone had experience or could guide me with regards to couriers? I need to have a single price to ship my product any where in teh uk, naturally adding a commission for next day etc but kinda not sure where to look. I'e gone onto ebay forums and mostly they seem to be eir franchisees selling their own service or people who ship large volumnes to get the rates the do. I'm just starting and estimates re shifting products are just that so i cant commit to x number of parcels a week etc. Any help would be great! Jonny |

Choosing the correct courier to use is an important decision and the wrong choice can prove to be a nightmare as I know. I used to send wine glasses by courier, I once dropped a box off at the depot the box had fragile, glass handle with care all over it, I was comming out of the office after getting the paperwork signed to find a guy literally throwing the box onto the floor, needless to say I was not amused. The moral of the story is that a courier is only as good as the people working for it. I have used nightspeed, ANC, Citylink, business post and Fastway. We settled on Fastway in the end, the business(which I sold) still uses Fastway. Fastway is a franchise so the driver collecting the parcel and the driver delivering actually own their little business so, In my mind should take a little extra care of the parcel and of you. In the thousands of parcels I sent I had 1 breakage and 1 lost both where sorted and compensated for within 2 weeks. The downside of fastway is you have to Buy Stamps(labels) in bulk in advance. Some franchisees will let you buy a few to try them out but that is upto the discretion on the individual. Anyway I wish you best of luck in your venture, you will have plenty of fun good and bad but remember nothing ventured nothing gained. Regards Paul |
